Bills scanned on-device
BillScout reads your utility bill, runs OCR, and compares rate plans entirely on your iPhone. The bill photo and the extracted text never leave your device and are never uploaded to a server.
Local-only history
Your parsed bills, savings comparisons, and scanned-bill library are stored locally on your device. There is no cloud sync of your bill data.
What we collect
BillScout does not collect bill photos, extracted bill text, account details, analytics, or tracking data. Purchases are handled by Apple StoreKit on-device.
The Short Version
BillScout is a utility-bill savings scanner. You photograph a bill, BillScout reads the provider, plan, total, usage, and billing period on your device, and it estimates what you might save on an alternative plan. The scanning, text extraction, and comparison all run on-device. Your bill photo and the text read from it never leave your iPhone and are never sent to Bonega or any third party. BillScout does not have user accounts and does not collect your name or email.
Data BillScout Collects
BillScout's Apple privacy manifest declares no collected data. The app does not send your bill photos, extracted bill text, saved bill history, device identifier, analytics events, or account details to Bonega.
StoreKit purchases and restores are processed by Apple. BillScout reads the current StoreKit entitlement on your device to unlock Pro features; Clashware does not receive your Apple ID, payment details, bill content, or purchase history from the app.
Your Bill Photos And Extracted Text
When you scan or import a utility bill, BillScout uses the camera or your photo library to capture the image and reads the text from it using on-device processing. The bill image and the text extracted from it are processed locally to produce a parsed bill and a savings comparison. They are not uploaded to Bonega, are not sent to any server for OCR or analysis, and are not shared with third parties. Your saved comparisons live in the BillScout app container on your device. You can revoke camera or photo access at any time in iOS Settings.
Rate Comparison Data
BillScout compares your parsed bill against bundled regional rate-plan tables that ship with the app. This comparison runs on-device against local data. Your bill is not transmitted to perform it. The resulting savings figures are estimates derived from cached plan data and may not reflect the provider's current rates. Verify the current rate with the provider before switching. If you tap a “compare plans” or provider switch link, that opens an external website in your browser, and that website's own privacy practices then apply. In this version, these are public provider links; BillScout does not receive referral commission from them.
Backend Use
BillScout's core scan, parse, and comparison flow is on-device and needs no server. There is no BillScout account, anonymous device-identity sync, or backend scan allowance check in this local-first version. No bill image, no extracted bill text, and no personal account data is sent.
Subscriptions And Purchases
Weekly and yearly Pro subscriptions and the optional Lifetime unlock are processed by Apple via the App Store. Apple handles your payment and Apple ID. BillScout uses StoreKit on your device to unlock paid local features and restore purchases. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple processes purchase information.
Information We Do Not Collect
BillScout does not require sign-in, does not have a user account system, does not upload your bill photos or extracted bill text, does not use IDFA or any other advertising identifier, does not include any analytics or attribution SDK, does not sell personal information, and does not track you across apps or websites. It does not access your contacts, location, or address book. Only the camera and photo library you choose to scan from, which are used on-device.
Deletion
Delete the app to remove every parsed bill, savings comparison, and scanned-bill library entry from the device app container. Device backups are controlled by your iOS and iCloud settings. For privacy questions, use our Contact Us page.
